A pair of MenDun (Chinese Gate Pier) Lions made of pure bluestone carries vivid expression of two lions with different posture. MenDun Lions are placed as guardian at entrance for Chinese traditional courtyard homes, normally carved using one piece of stone, implying safety, health and good luck. This specific pair, male and female, shows two lions facing each other with open mouth. Hairs are beautifully carved with curls, sitting straight with one paw on a XiuQiu (hydrangea ball).
