Woodcarving was common to decorate gates and windows during Qing dynasty to give an artistic appearance of the building. This large gate was maintained at a great condition since it has been made in late 19th century ShanXi, China. Top half was solid to protect privacy and lower part was carved in traditional patterns. The inner door is still openable with original fittings. Light sand color adds a bright tone. It can be placed to a wall for decoration and the height is good for a high ceiling space.
