Square stools were popular in ancient China because of the comfortable and portable design. Made in 19th century, this pair of stools was a rare found with “Supporting Double Rings” at each side, a classic Ming style normally seen in scholar’s tables. Artistic and durable, the master craftsmanship is also reflected in carved stripes encircling the outer edge of round legs. Over a century, the stools have developed aged signs and rich patina over its sand cypress wood grain, making them even attractive. This pair can be used as leisure seats, or transformed into side tables given its size and shape.
